TIME MANAGEMENT IN LOCKDOWN

Majority of the people quarantined at home in India are in a dilemma as to which show to watch next or which video game to play now. And in this ordeal, we end up getting bored of the same routine, which could be in the order – eat, sleep, watch, play and repeat.

TIME MANAGEMENT IN LOCKDOWN

The best way to spend your time right now is to do something productive and anything that keeps your spirits up and distracts your mind from the ongoing pandemic situation. The motive is to keep a healthy mindset towards time management and in this case, there is an excess of time to be managed. So, let’s talk about that now.

We usually end up scrolling through social media sites and binge-watching several shows at once or playing a lot of video games. While this isn’t necessarily a wrong way to spend your time, it is definitely not an ideal way.

Well it is said that it takes 21 days to make something our habit. This may seem like the perfect time to wallow within the area of fitness. There might be a person telling you about a specific stress buster which is exercise and yoga. This definitely helps us focus and also allows a person to sculpt their bodies inside out. Some would consider reading a book or exercising and following a diet to be the best way to spend time right now. That’s one perspective you could get around, but that depends on your lifestyle.

Some particular students might also be busy with online lectures and submissions which may help them kill some time but there’s still a lot of excess time to go with.

Some are also enjoying the time they have by spending it with their family as they would usually be away from home due to their busy schedules.

Now, let’s think of all the skill-developing and learning activities everybody’s been talking about.
These activities include -

  • Learning a new language.
  • Reading a good book.
  • Learning new skills that would help in your curriculum.
  • Honing and mastering your existing skillset.
  • Extra-curricular courses.
  • Attending various webinars.
  • Pursuing online courses.
  • If you are a business person then think about the strategies to save your company once this pandemic is over.
  • Try to quit a bad habit.
  • Make a bucket list if you don’t have any.

These definitely seem like something you should indulge in at the time being. A regular Joe would choose one of these and would leap into that realm completely. This might be good for some people but for the most part, you’ll end up getting bored with that too.

Some individuals like following a certain routine; that’s ideal too, you know, whatever floats your boat. So far, we’ve read about the time-killing and chilling activities like scrolling through social media and then there were also skill-developing and learning activities like reading a good book. Following a routine is not going to be everybody’s cup of tea right now and exercising might take away your laziness.

The best routine one could follow for now is a partially unsteady one.

To keep your mind focused and healthy, one should follow an unsteady routine during the quarantine which only has fixed timings for sleeping and waking up. With the rest of your free time, instead of choosing one activity, you could take up multiple activities, like cooking, exercising, meditating, taking up a finance course and even watching a show or two when you’re not busy doing the other activities. This way you know when you wake up and when you sleep and every day is a new day where you can switch up your activities and your schedule and just keep going with something or the other. And with this, you keep yourself busy and learn how to manage time on a small-scale.

Well this lockdown has definitely made each one of us do things which we never thought we would do. So let’s make utmost use of this precious time obviously by staying at home.

Following these, you might just thank us for relieving you of your boredom and probably learning a few things as we move on.
